Braving River

Everyday... residents of Sigay and Gregorio Del Pilar crosses this Quinibor River just to get to Candon where the business is active. When rainy season comes, they were displaced for many days.

Paksiw Na Bunog

Paksiw Na Bunog; Ilocano's Favorite Food

Paksiw Na Bunog; Ilocano's Favorite Food

Mga 2 to 3 inches siguro ang haba.  Makikita ang ‘bunog’ sa mababaw na bahagi ng freshwater na ilog. Masarap na paksiw, but can be cooked also with ginataan, or daing.

Madali lang na hanapin na suka, paminta, bawang, lasona at laya.  But the hardest part of it is to catch this little fish in Amburayan river. Oh yeah, this one is in Sigay, Ilocos Sur, fresh from Kinibor river.

Hey joe, you know what’s english of ‘bunog’?

Buhay Bilibid

Lady Romance

Ang buhay na dati marangya

Masaya, kasama ang pamilya

Ngunit ngayon kampon ng kadiliman

Ang aking kinasasadlakan.

Kawawang nilalang buhay nasira

Naging masama sa kamay ng iba

Natutong gumawa ng hindi tama

Masaya kasama ang pamilya

Di gaya sa loob ng bilibid

Magulo, puno ng kasamaan

Halo-halong kasamaan

Nag-iisa para may sariling mundo

Na ang kasama lamang

Mga naligaw ng landas

Ngayon impiyerno ang kinabagsakan.

Sariling pagkatao, puso’t isipan nagsisisi

Sa mga kasalanan aking nagawa

Na habambuhay kong pagdudusahan.

Buhay OFW

Karen Oriente

Sa bayang sinilangan

Anong saya ang mga nagdaan

Kasama ang pamilya’t mahal sa buhay

Yakap, halik at pagmamahal

Aking nadama sa mga magulang.

Ngunit hirap ang dinanas

Mula ng lisanin bansang sinilangan

Hirap kalungkutan, pasakit

Aking natikman

Nagpakahirap sa iba

Nagtiyaga, nagsumikap para sa pamilya

Ganito pala ang hirap mawalay sa pamilya

Malungkot, laging nag-iisa

Walang karamay

Naalala mga masasayang araw

Kasama mahal sa buhay

Iba pala ang buhay OFW

Sa Pinas, kahit mahirap

Masaya dahil kapiling ang pamilya

Buhay OFW hindi biro…
