Candon City. Ten public elementary schools in Candon City Division now a high-tech with the use of mobile phones through Text2Teach as medium for teaching.
Mayor Allen G. Singson of Candon City and Dr. Jorge Reinante of Candon City Division signed the Memorandum of Agreement with the Text2Teach alliance represented by Mr. Mario Deriquito of Ayala Foundation, Inc. to provide them the Text2Teach program.
The 10 benefitted schools are Candon North Central School, Darapidap ES, Bagani ES, Bagar ES, and Langlangca ES of District 1 and Candon South Central School, Ayudante ES, Patpatta ES, Paypayad ES, and Calongbuyan.
The heads of school received N95 mobile phones, pre-paid sim cards, and 29-inch colored tv sets.
Text2Teach is a private sector-led program that uses mobile technology for education. The phones are pre-loaded with education videos created for the project to bring English, Math and Science subjects to life.
The lesson plans that come with the teachers’ guide are fully integrated into the basic education curriculum and created to meet local eduction guidelines and standards
The city government of Candon through Mayor Singson and Local School Board provided the public sector counterpart to implement Txt2Teach to ten schools in Candon.
