Bamboo Raft Riding

Only in the Philippines! It’s really more fun in the Philippines.

Not only people are riding in the makeshift bamboo raft to cross the Amburayan in Sugpong town, Ilocos Sur, Philippines. Motorcycles, motors agricultural products are all passenger to bamboo boat just to cross the less than kilometer river.

Someday, maybe next year, this traditional way of crossing the river of the said town will diminish. A new and cemented bridge is underway construction and hopefully will be finish next year.

During the rainy season, residents of this town are isolated and only when the flood in the river subside they travel.

Season Of The Rice

The picture was taken during one of the Begnas Festival of Ilocos Sur in Galimuyod, Ilocos Sur.

It is now the season of harvesting rice. There have always been a connection between the season of rice and the tribal tradition of dancing tadek, playing gangsa and chanting of traditional songs.

Today, tradition has changed and so with the ways of farmers using now farming implements and equipments.
