As part of the Balik Pinas! Balik Hanapbuhay! Program of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Regional Welfare Office 1 (RWO1) conducted a Techno-Production Skills Training on Livestock Raising at the Robert Estrella Gymnasium, Rosales, Pangasinan.
The one-day seminar was attended by 26 displaced workers coming from various municipalities in Eastern Pangasinan. Among the topics discussed were Hog, Poultry and Goat Raising. Dr. Arcely G. Robeniol, District Veterinarian and Mr. Roberto Espanto, Municipal Agriculture Officer of Rosales delivered a comprehensive discussion on the proper way of raising livestock including their housing, food consumption and medication in case of illnesses. They also gave some tips on how to gain profit in this kind of livelihood.
The families of Bartolome C. Cadavero of Puerto Princesa, Palawan and Fe S. Lao of Bansalan, Davao del Sur emerged as national winners of the 10th MOFYA (Model OFW Family of the Year Award ) in the sea-based and land-based categories after a year-long search conducted in 2014. The honor rite was held in Blue Leaf Filipinas, Parañaque City.

Felix reminded all his personnel on the importance of good moral and ethics especially in doing their service as Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) observed the PNP’s 21st Ethics Day Celebration on Monday.
Felix Cesar C. Arobel, a scholarunder the OFW Dependent Scholarship Program (OFWDSP) of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Regional Welfare Office 1 (OWWA- RWO1) has successfully landed 3rd place in the Essay Writing Contest of the recently concluded Kusina Ilocandia held at the Coconut Grove Beach Resort, Paringao, Bauang, La Union
Felix was the sole representative of his school during the on-the-spot essay writing contest with the event’s theme “ Northern Culinary Adventure- A Continuing Journey Towards Ilocandia’s Culinary Expertise”. Felix received a cash prize and a certificate as third placer in the contest during the event’s closing ceremony.
A Seminar on the Basic Laws and Policies Affecting Overseas Migration was spearheaded by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration- Regional Welfare Office 1 (OWWA- RWO1) as part of its sustaining capability building program for the Migrant Desk Officers (MDOs) in Region 1.
The said event was held on November 6- 7, 2014 at the Fiesta Garden Hotel in Bantay, Ilocos Sur. It was attended by a total of 84 MDOs comprising of 15 MDOs from Ilocos Norte, 27 from Ilocos Sur, 21 from La Union and 21 from Pangasinan. There were also 13 OFW Leaders who attended the seminar.
The two-day seminar equipped the MDOs and OFW Leaders with knowledge on the framework and implementing guidelines of the basic laws and policies affecting OFWs here and abroad including the government intervention in addressing the gaps encountered in the implementation of these laws and policies.

Around 100 seedlings of fruit-bearing trees were planted around the camp of Police Regional Office 1as part of the culmination program of the Police Community Relations Month held at the PRO1 Grandstand.
Personnel of PRO1 with the employees of National Police Commission Regional Office 1 (NAPOLCOM-RO1) joined hands in a tree planting activity as they end the month-long celebration of 19th PCR Month with the theme “Pinaigting na Samahan ng Mamamayan at Pulisya Para sa Patuloy na Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran ng Sambayanan”.
Prior to the said activity, a simple culmination program was conducted wherein NAPOLCOM-RO1 Assistant Regional Director Evangeline Almirante graced the event.
In honor of veterans from Ilocandia, the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office will conduct OPLAN : Pagkalinga – Year 4, a medical outreach in celebration of the 64th Anniversary of the Victory at the Battle of Bessang Pass on June 14, 2009 at Camp Spencer, Darigayos, Luna, La Union from 8:00 AM – 12:00 NN.
